“I really enjoyed this clinical experience and I definitely learned a lot about psychiatry especially in the unique environment which is the North Hudson Community Action Center. Rotating with Dr. Santos was very informative and a great learning experience and he was very helpful and answered all my questions and made sure I was exposed to as many cases as possible. The staff at the NHCAC psychiatry were also very nice and helpful. Im very lucky to have had the opportunity to do this psychiatry rotation and to have rotated Dr. Santos.”

“First, I want to thank Dr. Firas Harb so much for giving me the opportunity to do this rotation under Dr Kelly Edebiri and Dr Carlos Perez. I had a great experience during my time at Hudson Hospital. It helped me understand how the U.S. healthcare system works, especially the protocols used in patient care. I also learned the importance of evidence-based medicine. I rotated in the ICU, ER, and wards, which gave me a good look at how a hospital runs day-to-day. I did many tasks like a resident, such as reviewing patient charts, taking daily patient complaints, presenting cases, and ordering labs. The nursing staff were very friendly and always provided important information from patient charts, which made my work easier. I also got to use the EMR system, CareVue, which was a valuable experience. Dr. Edebiri and Dr Perez were very supportive and approachable, creating a great learning environment. We had regular morning and noon classes to discuss cases and medical topics. I presented several cases and had the chance to work on a case report. This rotation was a big learning opportunity that helped me grow as a future doctor”

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the incredible opportunity to complete a one-month rotation in Internal Medicine at Hudson Regional Hospital. It was an amazing experience where I gained invaluable firsthand clinical experience, particularly on the ICU, medical floors and ER under the supervision of Dr. Carlos Perez and Dr. Edeberi Kelly. This experience significantly enhanced my clinical skills. I presented 2-3 cases each morning, performing detailed histories, physical exams, and interpreting lab results and imaging. I developed differential diagnoses and care plans, engaging with my attendings for refinement. I actively participated in case discussions, recorded data in Carevue EMR, and delivered an one hour oral presentation on Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). I collaborated with nursing and case management staff to ensure smooth patient care transitions and took initiative in working on a complex case report involving Severe Malaria with DIC. This rotation deepened my understanding of patient management, sharpened my diagnostic skills, and strengthened my teamwork and communication abilities. It was a great opportunity to rotate here, with Dr. Perez, Dr. Kelly, and the nursing staff providing a supportive and enriching learning environment.”

“I had my clinical rotation in Pediatrics from January 22, 2024, to February 9, 2024, it’s my second rotation here in the US and I’m so happy I got the chance to rotate with Dr. Halina. I learned a lot from her, she is a great doctor. I was able to see many different cases and learn how to approach them, take history, and write notes. It was my first time seeing scarlet fever, craniosynostosis, and rhabdomyolysis cases, so many cases of URI, hand-mouth foot infection, and a lot more. This rotation is one of the best experiences I had as a medical student and wish it didn’t finish. I had a big interest in Pediatrics since day 1 but wasn’t sure if I would choose it for residency later after rotating in Pediatrics in the US,,,,,”

” I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the exceptional experience I had during my one-month surgery elective at OSF Little Company of Mary Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. The exposure and learning opportunities provided during my time at your esteemed institution have left an outstanding mark on my medical education. From the outset, I was warmly welcomed by the hospital staff, and the attending physicians and residents went above and beyond to ensure a smooth integration into the hospital’s surgical department. The inclusiveness and support extended to me contributed significantly to the positive atmosphere that prevailed throughout my elective. The diversity of surgical cases to which I was exposed during my rotation was truly remarkable. I had the privilege of witnessing and participating in a wide range of procedures, spanning from trauma surgeries to intricate bariatric surgeries. The unique challenges posed by the complexity of these surgeries, coupled with the attending physician’s tendency to engage me with thought-provoking questions, allowed me to delve deep into the intricacies of gastric sleeve and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgeries. I got to learn about the complex science and critical thinking behind these types of surgeries such as the margins we leave from the pyloric sphincter, the GJ and JJ anastomosis, prevention of internal hernia, the different anatomical landmarks, and much more. Throughout the four weeks of my rotation, the attending physicians were instrumental in imparting invaluable knowledge regarding complex surgical techniques and critical decision-making processes. I was fortunate to scrub in on almost all cases, providing me with hands-on experience and fostering a deeper understanding of the intricacies involved. The emphasis on learning extended beyond the operating room, as I was entrusted with the responsibility of pre-rounding on four patients each day and presenting them during morning rounds. The constructive criticism provided by the attending physicians during these sessions significantly contributed to my growth as a medical professional. One of the highlights of my elective was the opportunity to prepare and present a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation on liver cysts. Additionally, I presented a rare case of Hepatopulmonary fistula, showcasing my ability to apply the knowledge acquired during my rotation. The encouragement and guidance received from the attending physicians and residents throughout this process further solidified my confidence in presenting complex medical cases. Thank you once again for providing me with this invaluable opportunity. I look forward to carrying the knowledge and skills acquired during my elective into my future medical endeavors. ”

” Meridian Medical Group (MMG) has been an amazing resource in the process of helping International Medical students find clinical rotations in the USA to learn about the US health systems. They treat me like a friend rather than a client and they always have the best interests of the students at heart. It is not very frequent that you find a company that puts your interest above anything else but believe me, they do. Through MMG, I have had two clinical rotations (Internal Medicine and Family medicine) and I have had amazing experiences in both. I am currently having the third one in Pediatrics. Thank you for creating the opportunities and keep up the good work! ”
